Patricia Apollonia Kotero was an American model and singer. She is also co-starring with Prince in his 1984 movie Purple Rain. The actress was the co-star of Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain, and the vocalist for the girl group Apollonia 6 The singer and actress who was christened Apollonia by Prince was one of the many female performers in the 1980s to benefit from her association with Prince, the Purple One. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the latter part of the 1970s. She also appeared on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the role of the lead female for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer changed her name) as well as replacing Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 singing with them in the movie with the title Apollonia 6. Apollonia was finally able to release her debut in 1988 but her comparatively tame collection of dance and R&B songs did not make much impression on those who bought music, and the album soon vanished out of sight. Apollonia continued to act (if somewhat unnoticed) during the subsequent decade. Small TV appearances as well as minor film roles and exercise videos kept her full of work.
